Pleated Skirts

Back to school time! No but really, pleated skirts are all the rage right now – and they make for a great staple item to create different winter looks every day.

We love a black mini pleated skirt that makes for a great basis to any winter outfit. Now, since you’ll have a lot of leg on show, it’s a good idea to slip into some black fleecy tights to stay nice and toasty – or, if you’re feeling extra, why not go for some patterned tights? Tuck in a long-sleeve top and layer over a soft, knitted jumper. For footwear, we love some chunky loafers to stick with the preppy look. The best part of this look is that you can switch it up with a different top and jumper every single day, and have a new outfit for every day of the week. Voila!

Maxi Skirts

Who says maxi skirts are for summer? Not us. A maxi skirt in the winter time is actually one of our favourites – it’s all about choosing the right fabric, colour and pattern. We love a chic black satin maxi skirt in winter, because they’re super easy to style. Simply pair with a buttoned shirt or a knitted jumper (or layer both if it’s cold) and you’re good to go. For shoes, we love a pair of sweet ballet flats, or if you want something a little warmer, go for some slender kitten heeled boots to finish the look.

Tartan or Checkered Skirts

There’s a reason tartan remains a winter classic year after year. This timeless style uses all of the best winter palette colours (think forest green, ruby red, mustard yellow, navy) and pairs great with knitwear.

Want to take it one step further? The style gurus at SilkFred predict that tartan kilts (yes, for men and women) are going to be super popular this winter. But don’t be daunted by this fashion statement, a kilt is just as easy to style as a tartan pleated skirt. Our favourite combo is a tartan kilt with a classic cable knit jumper, thick tights and chunky boots. Or, for an effortlessly cool and casual look, try an oversized tee, some tights and your favourite trainers.

Denim Skirts

Why waste an old classic? A denim skirt is an easy wardrobe staple to take from summer to winter. Simply pop on some tights, grab your favourite black turtle neck and slip into some chunky boots – and there you have it! An easy, breezy winter look that you can wear over and over.

Leopard Print Skirts

Trend alert! This year, we’ve been spotting leopard print absolutely everywhere – and this fierce print shows no signs of stopping. One way to wear your spots this winter is with a leopard print skirt. Choose from flattering wrap skirts to floaty pleated maxis or teeny tiny minis, there are endless options.

For styling, we love pairing black with your leopard print. But, if you want to take it to the next level, why not pair your leopard print skirt with a red jumper. If you ask us, this is a match made in (jungle) heaven. Plus, leopard print is a neutral, right?!
