Say No To The Dress: Alternative Wedding Guest Outfits

Theory: The reason you haven’t found the right dress for that wedding yet is because what you’re looking for is not actually a dress at all. *Cue collective ‘Oooh’ from the audience* Maybe it’s a dressed-up jumpsuit you can dress down after the wedding, or a co-ord you can also wear as separates. You see, the great thing about opting out of a dress is that the alternatives usually work for less-fancy events too, so you get more wear out of them. And as it turns out, we have lots of them. From wide-leg jumpsuits to fancy-top-and-trouser combos, even the dress-obsessed could be converted.

Starting with the obvious: Jumpsuits

A statement jumpsuit is just the ticket for a finely-tuned wedding outfit that doesn’t take too much fine-tuning at all. Case in point, the printed jumpsuits below is just perfect for a wedding. Just add a pair of nude heels and a clutch bag, and you’re ready to call a taxi. This Navy Culotte Jumpsuit is particularly handy for spring weddings when temperatures haven’t quite reached the 20’s yet. Bonus: it comes in five prints (girl needs options, right?)

Strike a co-ord

A good co-ord is basically two great separates, that are even better together – a bit like the bride and groom, really. If you want a wedding outfit that turns heads, but doesn’t have a neggy impact on your comfiness, these metallic trousers and top are a total box-ticker. Plus, it’s roomy enough for post-cake food babies.

Top table

“You can’t wear a top to a wedding” they said.  “The Ambre Monochrome Blouse” we said.

Touché”  they said. This silky high-neck blouse is proof that rules should be broken sometimes, even that one about wearing white to a wedding. But, if you’d prefer a safer alternative to white trousers, this navy pair will look just as good.
